Welcome back to Term 3. We hope you had a restful and happy break.

And…we are straight back into everything happening, seemingly at once!

The College has young people at its core and so it is fitting that we are hosting “Hello Fleurieu” this Sunday at our Currency Creek EcoCentre. This is a huge regional event for children and young people throughout not only the Fleurieu but also the state. There will be activities including environmental art, barista training and eco tours to name a few. Most importantly, this is an event that aims to hear the voices of our young people. I encourage you to consider attending, especially if you have yet to see our amazing EcoCentre! Further details/directions found at:

I’m very excited to inform you that, over the next month, we will be hosting some students from China at the College. The students are here to experience life and schooling in Australia and to be immersed in the English language. Students will be assigned to various classes, normally two per class.
We believe this will be a fabulous opportunity for our College and students. There will be two groups of students coming to the College with the first group arriving on Monday 29 July and the next on Thursday 8 August. Each group will spend approximately 10 days at the College.

Whilst on matters international, we are looking to establish an exchange program with a school in northern Italy (near Venice!). We are hoping to welcome up to 25 students in late January 2020, with a return exchange in December 2020 so that our students, particularly to those studying or thinking of studying Italian in Years 11 and 12 at Investigator College. PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you are able to host a student or students for approximately two weeks.

As I indicated last term, you will notice changes at our Victor Harbor Campus as we prepare for 2020. Already, a new car park area is nearing completion for our “Little Investigators” Early Learners Centre. Towards the end of Term 3, you will see work commence on our new Music and Drama Centre near the PASC, as well as the new Junior School playground.

Whilst all these things are happening, spare a thought for our Year 12 students. Although we are only at mid-year, Term 3 will be the last full term of schooling for these students. They now embark on the incredibly fast-paced timeline of final assessments, Research Projects and examinations. It is a very stressful time not only for the students, but for the Year 12 staff who have endless marking, moderation and preparation duties that continue to the last day of the year…

I know I speak for everyone in the College community in wishing all Year 12 students (and their teachers and families!) every success. May we all maintain a sense of humour and balance in this period; and may we all remember that a “score”, however important it may be, does not define who we are.

Andrew Panozzo, Acting Principal
