Whilst many of us are looking forward to warmer days, please spare a thought for the many farmers who grow the food for our tables. May the promise of spring bring much-needed rain!

At our College, the spring is certainly a sign of growth, and a bright future. There are so many things happening, seemingly all at once and I thank our staff, students and families for contributing so much towards the fabulous offerings at Investigator College.

Some key events coming up:

Come and see and hear the fantastic talents of our students (and perhaps some staff?) Hosted by two of our super College leaders, the ebullient William Taylor and Libby Shine, this promises to be a night to remember.

I am seeking families who would be prepared to host a Year 11 Italian student (with very good English) for the final week of the Christmas holidays and the first week or so of School in 2020. Please let me know if you are able to help. This is particularly important for students studying Italian at the College in Years 10, 11 or 12 next year – but I would welcome interest from any family.

Our thanks to the many applicants for the 2020 Scholarships. Scholarships are just one way in which the College invests in our students’ future – we wish all applicants every success.

This is particularly important for parents of students entering Years 7 and 8 in 2020. Come and meet our teachers and learn about the ever increasing subject, course and extra-curricular offerings at Middle School. Thursday 12 September at 7pm in the Senior School.

As you will have seen, these are now on site and are currently being decorated and equipped for Term 4 use. Students will enjoy the closer proximity and connectedness to the Theatre, and the additional space!

The itinerary is almost ready and I expect to make a full announcement next week. There will be an information evening early in Term 4, but please feel free to contact me earlier. Any tour that includes Budapest, Vienna, Venice, The Swiss Alps and Zurich, Paris and Barcelona fills very quickly!

A letter will be sent out shortly with a full Term 4 program. Students coming from our Goolwa Campus will be spending one day per week at the Victor Harbor Campus from Week 5 of next term, and two days per week in the final few weeks as we prepare for our joint Junior School Christmas Concerts and celebrations.

And, as we approach all these wonderful community events, we keep all our Year 12s, their teachers and families in our thoughts and prayers as they approach their final weeks of secondary schooling. During the flurry of final assessments, exams (and endless marking and administration for Year 12 teachers), may all our students keep perspective – there is life after Year 12, and the ATAR is only one pathway to the future.

May spring be a burst of life, love and people…or as the great D.H Lawrence wrote:

I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze
Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze.

Andrew Panozzo, Acting Principal
