Scott McGregor
Head of Middle School

The 2023 year has begun to fly by already with a number of activities and events filling our school calendar…

This year has seen the introduction of a number of new leadership roles in the Middle School. Below is a brief piece from each of the staff leading an element of the Middle School in 2023. These staff have already been doing a fantastic job in supporting the wellbeing and growth of our Middle School students and I am sure will continue to do so across this year.

Assistant Head of Middle School – Tom Hancock

“2023 is my second year as Assistant Head of Middle School. My role is to develop and implement a wellbeing program for Year 7 to 9 which covers topics such as Empathy, Anti-Bullying, Cyber Safety, Resilience, Time Management and Positive Education concepts like Character Strengths, Growth Mindset, Gratitude and Self-Knowledge. I work with the year level coordinators, Miss Ranson and Miss Kaur to ensure that the needs of students are being met and addressed.

One of my most enjoyable tasks is to work with the Student Leaders to make the Middle School a vibrant and fun place to learn and play. Together we aim to create opportunities during break times for students to be stimulated physically and mentally and engaged with each other, both in their year levels and House groups.”

Year 7/8 Coordinator – Raji Kaur

“This is my third year at Investigator, and I am thrilled to take on the new position of the Year 7/8 Coordinator. My role is to provide further support for students and staff; this includes administrative responsibilities with camps, wellbeing, and creating a positive tone in the Middle School.”

Year 9/10 Coordinator – Nicole Ranson

“This year I am excited to take on the new position of Year 9/10 Coordinator. This position is new to the College, alongside the Year 7/8 Coordinator. My role spans across both the Middle and Senior School, providing an additional layer of support for students and staff. This also includes administrative responsibilities in camp coordination, The Rite Journey program in Year 9, and the Personal Learning Plan in Year 10.”

Sports Day

The Middle and Senior Sports Day was held on Thursday 9 March and was a fantastic day for all students. They competed in a range of athletic events, both as individuals but also for the Houses. There were many highlights across the day, including the 100m Gift, the recently introduced and very well supported Tug-o-War and the ever-popular High Jump finals. The House spirit was evident throughout the day. Congratulations to Banksia on their win.

Open Day

Investigator College will host an Open Day tomorrow, Saturday 25 March. This will be a great opportunity for both current and prospective families to visit the school and see many of the wonderful learning experiences available to students across the breadth of year levels. I look forward to seeing our families there.
