Welcome to 2018!

On behalf of the College Board, the staff and our College community, I warmly welcome you to the 2018 school year.

In particular I welcome our new families. I trust that the first few days are a smooth transition and that the ‘anticipatory anxiety’ that is often part of any new start is quickly eased. Please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of our leadership team if there is anything we are able to do to assist with this important time.

As you will be aware, 2018 is a significant year for the College as we implement some substantial changes that will create the very best learning environment for our students. An important part of The Board’s strategy is the consolidation of our Middle School to the Victor Harbor Campus. This initiative will provide our Middle School students with a dedicated space, staff and facilities that will not only enhance our student’s identity as ‘middle schoolers’, but importantly they will all have access to specialist subject teachers, each of whom is a passionate exponent of their subject area.

2018 will also mark the opening of our Early Learners Centre in Term 2 – a most exciting development for the College. Facilities, including a wonderful Nature Play area are well underway and are looking spectacular.

Finally, the College Board has endorsed our ongoing priority for Wellbeing and Community Development – an absolute commitment to nurturing the wellbeing of each person and a deliberate emphasis on the strengthening of community relationships and parenting outcomes.

Printing of Directions

One of our priorities as a large organisation is to encourage clear and concise communication. We are also conscious of our impact on the environment – particularly given the number of notices and newsletters distributed. With this in mind, the College will, in 2018, seek to reduce the notices/communications sent home each day
and encourage families to access the information on our website.

One of our ‘large volume’ communications is our Directions newsletter. From this edition, only families who seek to have a paper copy will receive a copy. As is currently the case –
all editions of Directions [together with further detail etc] can be accessed on the College website www.investigator.sa.edu.au.

Should you wish to continue to receive Directions in hard copy, please email Elly Parker at web@investigator.sa.edu.au

Student safety

Please be aware that the rear of the new Victor Harbor Campus Junior School classrooms is strictly off limits to ALL vehicles.
Please utilise the main car park at all times.

I pray that the beginning of the school year is a time to celebrate the wonderful opportunities open to all of us to learn and do community together.

Mr Don Grimmett
Principal
