Dear Investigator families,

Welcome to Term 4. It has been wonderful to see the students today and most seemed to enjoy a lovely break. Obviously this is an extremely busy time for our Year 12 students and we wish them every success at this demanding time.

Listed below are a few items to be aware of please:

  • Assuming that South Australia remains COVID free, it gives us pleasure to welcome back parents to the grounds from Friday 23 October. A coffee van will be on-site for the morning drop-off, with good quality coffee available for a gold coin donation. Please note that we still ask that you refrain from entering classrooms and that you still adhere to social distancing guidelines. This is a great opportunity to reconnect with other parents and available staff. See you on the 23rd!
  • Our assembly program continues this term and, as the students are spread across the PASC, unfortunately there will not be room for parents.
  • Investigator College is being featured on Channel 9’s “South Aussie with Cosi” television program with filming and interviews taking place tomorrow (Thursday).
Students are asked to wear their Formal uniform.
  • Please note that the 2020 Speech and Awards Ceremony (previously known as Presentation Evening) will take place on Thursday 3 December from 1.00pm – 3.00pm.
All students from Years 3 -12 will be in attendance this year and we would love to see the majority of families represented by an adult at this important College event.

Head of Middle School Announcement

It gives me much pleasure to share with you the appointment of Scott McGregor as Head of Middle School at Investigator College from 2021.

Scott is currently a leader at Christian Brothers College (CBC) where he has capably filled the roles of Head of House, Curriculum Development and Design Coordinator, Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator and Head of Faculty. Prior to this, Scott worked at Trinity College where he was Physical Education and Sports Coordinator, Head of Pastoral Care, Head of Football and Head of Cricket. Scott has also been a teacher of Health and PE (Years 7 – 12), Mathematics (Years 7-11) and Science (Years 7-10).

Scott will be moving to the South Coast with his wife, Danielle (also a teacher in an Anglican College), and 3 children in November. Along with our new Head of Junior School, Nick Smith, Scott will be visiting the school during Term 4 and is looking forward to meeting you all.

Annual General Meeting

You are about to receive an invitation to the College AGM to be held on Wednesday 25 November at 7:00pm. All members are welcome.

Leading you to the next plateau

“The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, and tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau” – Dan Rather

This week we joined schools from around the globe to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. We are blessed with incredibly dedicated staff at Investigator College, and I stand behind each and every one of them.

People choose to become teachers because they care about others, and they enjoy helping students to become the best possible version of themselves. To maximise outcomes for your child, you need to work with the teacher, and to try to understand the strategy that the teacher, as a professional, is choosing to employ.

Think back to your own schooling, and I am certain you can recall a special teacher with whom you really ‘clicked’; a teacher who inspired you to achieve so much in your own life. To develop this positive relationship, students need to evidence respect, good manners and a sound work ethic. Teachers delight in the successes of their students, and rely on the support of the students and their parents to maximise outcomes. I salute our fine staff team, and thank you for your ongoing support.

Please join me for a coffee next Friday (23 October). I have missed you!

John Robinson
