2021 is the year of Investigator

So often last year we heard people wishing on 2021. The good news is that it is finally here and is poised to be a ripper.

Significant staffing changes have been made to enable education on the South Coast to reach a whole new level.

Head of Junior School – Nicholas Smith

A very experienced educator and leader, Nick was formerly Deputy Head of St John’s Grammar (Junior) School, a leading Anglican College in Belair. Prior to this he taught at Pembroke, Canberra Grammar and Trinity College. Nick is well known for his leadership in Science, sustainability, entrepreneurship, student agency and Project-Based Learning, as well as a strong commitment to literacy and numeracy. Nick is determined to make Investigator College the number one Junior School in South Australia, and I know you will support him in this endeavour.

Head of Middle School – Scott McGregor

An experienced leader, Scott has worked at Christian Brothers (CBC) and Trinity Colleges, where he excelled as Head of House, Curriculum Development and Design Coordinator, Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator, Head of Faculty, Physical Education and Sport Coordinator, Head of Pastoral Care , Head of Football and Head of Cricket. Scott is also an accomplished teacher of Mathematics, Science, PE and Health. Scott is looking forward to meeting you at numerous College events this year, including Welcome Evening on Wednesday.

Learning Strategies Coordinator – Diana Carter

Arguably the state’s leader in her field, in 2021 Investigator students will benefit from Diana’s expertise in all aspects of learning support, as well as her passion for gifted education. Formerly the Head of ELC – Year 12 Learning Support at St John’s Grammar School, Diana spent the past few years as the Learning Support Coordinator at a prominent international College. Diana will work with teachers and parents to ensure optimal learning outcomes for all students.

Student Counsellor – Nicole Eckermann

We are delighted to introduce a Student Counsellor this year. Nicole was formerly a counsellor at Eastern Fleurieu School and is already proving beneficial in the level of support she offers our students.

Year 5 teacher – Edwina Bruce

Edwina is very experienced in teaching at Anglican Colleges, having worked initially at St John’s Grammar School and then Woodcroft College for many years, as well as leading the Walford Old Scholars Association for some 13 years. Edwina is also very experienced in Outdoor Education and SAPSASA coordination.

Year 1 teacher- Alana Coppock

Alana has worked in both the state system and at St Peter’s Collegiate Girls’ School. An extremely talented netballer and coach, Alana is a former Best and Fairest of Matrics Netball Club (Premier League).

Junior School Music (and Classroom) Teacher – Lisa Pointon

Formerly Head of Music at Kingston Community School, Lisa has also been Head of Music at the Robert Fitzroy R-6 Academy in London. On top of this, Lisa is an accomplished Literacy and Numeracy teacher, with special interests in differentiation, Visible Learning and phonics. Her experience within the Arts is quite amazing, particularly as a trumpet player, band, orchestra and choir leader.

Middle School English/HASS Teacher – Raji Kaur

Experienced in and passionate about innovative pedagogies and ICTs, as well as Positive Education, Raji comes highly recommended from a number of Schools in the South Coast District and joins our Middle School team in 2021 .

Hub (Library) Manager – Danielle McGregor

Formerly an English teacher at St Peter’s Collegiate Girls’ School and Daily Coordinator at Trinity College, ‘The Hub’ is in excellent hands indeed. Danielle is also seeking volunteers who are able to assist.

Acting ELC Director – Vanessa Harvie

Vanessa has extensive experience leading Kindergartens and Early Learning Centres in both South Australia and Victoria. Recently she has been an Early Childhood lecturer at both MADEC and TAFE SA, training others in best Early Childhood practice. Investigator students are now benefiting from her exceptional knowledge of educational standards, compliance and child development.

College Chaplain – To be announced soon

These staff join a team of dedicated, caring professionals who, along with our students, make me feel very proud indeed.

2021 really is our time to shine. Get involved, support the teachers and let’s do this together.
