Year 8 and 9 AFL teams had a fantastic day at the SSSSA nine-a-side football competition held on 10 September at the Encounter Bay Recreation Grounds.
The girls team won three out of four games in their pool to easily qualify for the grand final. Despite losing to Victor Harbor High School in the premiership decider, the girls had a great day and played with tremendous team spirit.
Jemma and Georgina were unpassable in defence, whilst Layla and Holly provided plenty of drive in the midfield. Charlotte, Nikita and Piper were tackling machines, diving into packs. Estelle, Charlie and Hayley played well in defense and forward, marking strongly. Lauren played well in any position whilst Zoe was sneaky in the forward lines, kicking a couple of goals.
The boys finished equal second at the end of the round robin section of the day and missed out on playing in the grand final after a goal kicking competition to decide the second finalist. Ken and Kai were strong across the ground whilst Finn and Ryan P displayed great skills. Billy and Jack dominated in the air whilst Jake and Ryan S were creative in the forward lines. Max W and Kieran worked hard all over the ground collecting many possessions. Max B was a great goal umpire.
All students played brilliantly and were great ambassadors for the College.
