The Year 3 Classes visited our Currency Creek EcoCentre as part of their Biological Sciences unit.

Students engaged in a range of activities that focused on the different features of living things, and how we classify livings things into groups.

There was a specific focus on identifying the different macro invertebrates found in water samples from around the EcoCentre site. Students also studied the bird species found in the area and learnt how to identify different species. And they explored why birds have different physical features and what this tells us about where they live and what they eat. Students also looked at ways we can help to protect birds at our site and in our home gardens by providing food and shelter.

During this excursion students were involved in nature play activities, like cubby house construction and creating artwork as they spent time outside, having fun and exploring the natural environment.
