Year 6 students from both campuses joined together for a Leadership Training Day. Students talked about leaders they admire, and the qualities they model, to identify characteristics of leaders.

Sessions were based on the 4 Building Blocks of Leadership:

  • Presentation Skills
  • Responsibility
  • Organisation
  • Teamwork

Students reflected on their habits at home and school to determine just how reliable and accountable they are. Through a series of problem-solving games, students were encouraged to listen to different opinions and work together for the best outcomes. A lot of fun was had in developing how to move a whole team across a room, using only a few ‘stepping stones’.

The students shared their ideas and dreams about the school community, discussing practical ways to build student wellbeing and strong community through the following areas:

  • Hub
  • Environment
  • Digital Technologies
  • Sport
  • Community Wellbeing
  • Performing Arts

Follow up sessions in class will further explore Restorative Justice as a model for resolving conflict.

We look forward to an exciting year of new possibilities as these young people step up, accept responsibility, use initiative, and implement their ideas for the good of all.
