The results are in and the wait is over for the 2019 Class of Year 12 at Investigator College. Investigator College is pleased to confirm that our Year 12 students have once again achieved outstanding results – representing the culmination of 13 years of schooling.
College Acting Principal Mr Andrew Panozzo declared that the results are a direct reflection of the consistent and tireless effort of the staff, parents and students. “At Investigator College we are committed to bringing out the best in our students – as the logo says – ‘Your Best Self’.”
The completion of Secondary schooling is a great achievement and an important first stage in a lifelong learning journey. The opportunities that are available to our students following their successful completion are vast in range and critical to access doors of further study, training and the workforce.
Investigator College has a fine reputation for excellence in academic, cultural, sporting and extra-curricular activities. Dean of Senior Students Mrs Belinda Delyster is proud of the 100% pass rate that the College maintains. “Together with our 100% pass rate, the College is equally proud of many students for whom a traditional academic program does not suit. Many of these utilise the flexibly of the SACE and complete their senior secondary schooling over three years while studying many ‘non-traditional’ and vocationally orientated studies. Vocational courses such as our Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management provide an equally valid pathway for our students.”
The majority of our graduates apply for university entrance and, given our results are comparable with those of any Independent School in the state, our students are perfectly placed to transition into their next phase of life – whether that be work or further education. We are delighted that 42% of graduates who applied for university scored an ATAR of 90 or higher. We are thrilled that an incredible 18% of graduates scored 95 or higher!
Several of our students achieved a perfect score [Merit] including: Amber Whitburn (Legal Studies), Libby Shine (Physics) and Rebekah Alcorn (English).
The Dux of the College is Libby Shine with a total ATAR of 99.1 – one of 16 students who achieved 90 or above. Our Runner Up Dux is Ethan Johnson with an ATAR score of 98.15.
Mrs Delyster added: “The workplace context into which students move today is rapidly changing. ‘Softer’ skills such as flexibility, entrepreneurship, the ability to make and communicate clear decisions, global competitiveness, leadership and emotional intelligence [amongst many others] are skills that our students develop and which stand them in good stead in an increasingly competitive society.”
Key to the success of the College is its commitment to a broad range of subjects [over 40 SACE and VET programs] taught by expert teaching practitioners in a face-to-face learning context.
Mr Panozzo insists that, while the academic success of our students is important, the College is ever mindful that academic results form only part of the total picture of a successful 21st century graduate. “Despite the recent reports of the decline in Australia’s international ranking in education, Investigator College’s results prove that great schools provide excellence in education and outcomes that are truly world class.”
