Key Projects in 2023

Thursday, 7 March 2024
Term 1 is whistling by, which is a good time to reflect on a number of key projects that were completed at the end of 2023 / early 2024. As we progress through the term, it gives us great pleasure to see a broad range of stakeholders benefit from them.

  • Currency Creek Jetty was completed towards the end of 2023 just in time for our 21st birthday celebrations. The old jetty that was in a state of disrepair was completely removed and replaced with a wider and more practical jetty. This has been widely utilised during our programs at Currency Creek, allowing for unique education opportunities including better monitoring of rare and native water species, water quality monitoring and in the study of wetland equality subjects.

This also provides a launchpad for recreational activities, such as kayaking and fishing at our beautiful Currency Creek Campus.

This project was made possible by grant money received from the Government of South Australia as part of the Capital Grants for Independent Schools Program.

  • The College server system was replaced during the Christmas break to ensure our IT systems continue to run efficiently. This was a complicated project, completed successfully to the benefit of students, parents and staff alike. The server and storage capacity of the replacement will service the College needs for the next six years of expansion capacity.

This project was made possible by grant money received from the Government of South Australia as part of the Capital Grants for Independent Schools Program.

The College thanks the Government of South Australia, through the Department for Education, for the funding to allow for these works to be undertaken.

  • Our ELC, Junior School and Middle School classrooms were given a refresh with a clean finish of paint during the Christmas break, to complement the freshly painted pergola framework and rooves that were completed in 2022.

This is part of a maintenance schedule that will continue in to 2024 and beyond to ensure our classrooms continue to look fresh and at their best.

  • There were some significant maintenance works carried out on our Oval, including hollow tine coring, followed by the application of 120 tonne of sand. Not only has this improved the overall appearance of our oval, but has also helped to even out the playing surface and improve the drainage.

The works have been invaluable in supporting our sporting programs here at the College and for key calendar dates such as our Sports Days.

Thanks to all those involved in the success of these projects.
