The staff drive innovative projects

Investigator really is a special place. This week we have been planning our new turtle research project at our waterfront Currency Creek EcoCampus. Congratulations to our Sustainable Futures Coordinator, Nat Gilbert, for gaining a grant to support this groundbreaking project involving basking platforms, nest protection and even sniffer dogs! The experiences afforded to students here are unique.

This week we also began Outdoor Education as a SACE subject, our Year 6s hosted a passion project expo and some 90 students revegetated a creek-line to create habitats for a variety of native animals and birds, including the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo.

Wellbeing is a prime consideration

We all know the strong links between animals and wellbeing and Investigator is a leading school in this area. Not only will students develop relationships with lambs, calves, chickens and dogs, but this week we welcomed rescued kangaroo joey, Phoebe, into our community.

Staff wellbeing is also a feature here. CSW (Consider Staff Wellbeing) is an agenda item at every Senior Leadership meeting. Investigator staff are valued and go the extra mile for students and families (and each other) because they want to – not because they are forced to. Many of you have written letters of appreciation as you have noticed this important difference here too. Thank you so much for your support!

In keeping with our commitment to authentic staff wellbeing is our new central staff room and private staff courtyard as part of our exciting new Innovation Centre. Our culture of kindness permeates the very fabric of Investigator. We live and breathe Positive Education and are delighted to be forging a reputation as an employer of choice.

Connections are strong

South Australia is blessed with 12 Anglican Colleges and our connections are particularly strong. Along with St Peter’s College, St Peter’s Girls, Pulteney, St John’s Grammar, St Andrew’s, St Peter’s Woodlands, Trinity, Pedare, Walford, St Columba and Woodcroft, we strive for high academic standards, diverse innovative experiences, tailored pathways and a distinct Anglican identity.

In August we are hosting a Sustainable Futures event for Adelaide Anglican colleges and our staff have professional ‘buddies’ in other Anglican Colleges. The collective wisdom on offer enables us to fulfil our vision of being the first-choice for education on the Fleurieu.

A building program is beginning

These truly are exciting times. In Term 4 year we commence our new signature building and Innovation Centre which will enable us to provide an education that empowers students for life. An added bonus is a redesigned, safer carpark, plus a second carpark to create additional spaces. And yes, there will be some short-term pain to achieve these longer-term gains, but it will be well worth it!

We are delighted to be reopening the canteen soon also.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Enjoy Term 3!

PS: Did you see recently that Investigator was included in Better Education’s top 50 Schools in SA – the only school South of Willunga to get to achieve this! Go Investigator!
