Dear Parents/Caregivers

Welcome to Term 4. It is wonderful to have everyone back at school. Term 4 is a busy but exciting term that includes lots of wonderful events and celebrations. It is also a time where the classroom routines and relationships are well established so students are able to achieve some quality learning outcomes and truly flourish in their classroom environment.

Thank you to all of the families that have sent in considerations for 2022 class placements. If you have not done so, please email me directly as the process for class allocation will begin shortly.

WAVE (Wellbeing And Values Education)

As part of being a Positive Education School, the WAVE curriculum has been developed throughout this year. This is taught as a specialist subject by Lisa Pointon and me but is also further developed and discussed in class and sometimes built upon in Health lessons.

Throughout the year in WAVE, we have explored the VIA Character Strengths through class discussions, role playing activities, craft activities including making gratitude boxes for Father’s Day, and written work. Key events on the Christian calendar have also been explored. Our students have really enjoyed the opportunity to do some mindfulness exercises. Mindfulness and the Zones of Regulation have also been explored during class time.

We have celebrated our own and each other’s character strengths by having character strength awards, making character strength shields, strength stars and writing letters of gratitude.

Please take some time to discuss what your child(ren) has enjoyed about participating in WAVE this year. It is a great addition to the Curriculum and is an important way of students becoming more self-aware and resilient.

I look forward to another exciting and event filled term.

Kind regards,

Nick Smith
Head of Junior School
