It has a been a really positive start to Term 2 with a number of events already occurring, building on Investigator’s wonderful sense of community.

Kidz Biz

On Thursday evening we had Kerryn from Kidz Biz present two growth and development sessions. This was a wonderful opportunity for parents and their children to learn about this important topic in a safe and interactive manner. As well as conducting the evening session, Kidz Biz will be working in our Year 5 and 6 classes over the next three weeks to deliver a growth and development curriculum.

Mother’s Day

On Friday 6 May, it was wonderful to celebrate the mothers and special carers in our lives with a special Mother’s Day breakfast followed by an activities morning. This event was really well attended, even though the weather was not favourable. A big thank you to Jodie Marks and Sharon Meadows for organising this wonderful celebration.

In addition to this, a big thank you to ‘Parents and Friends’ (Jaymie, Talitha, Jen, Kate and Charmaine) for facilitating our Mother’s Day Stall. The items on sale were really popular and the local suppliers were a great help to us. Thank you to Ninepm, Made By Fred and What’s Poppin for your support of this event.

Playgroup

Friday also saw our first playgroup in a number of years with 16 parents and 21 children in attendance! It was lovely to see so many happy faces enjoying the morning. Thank you to Amy Vitkunas and Melissa Watters for facilitating playgroup – it is great to have this important service for our younger children back up and running.

R-2 Swimming

This week and next week our Reception – Year 2 students are undertaking their swimming and water safety program at the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre. Our students have loved participating in this program that teaches valuable water safety skills. The children have certainly come back happy and exhausted from their pool excursions.

Friendology

This Term all of our Junior School classes are using the Friendology Program to focus on building and maintaining friendship. In the past week we have learnt how to be ‘Friendship Ninja’s’.
The students have responded really positively to participating in this program. The link in the above line gives some additional information about the program and the language used in the program.

Principal’s Tour

Investigator College continues to field lots of interest from prospective families and this week we had our first Principal’s Tour. If you know of a family that might be interested in attending Investigator College but missed this tour, please encourage them to contact Elly Parker to register for our upcoming Principal’s Tour on 7 June. Thank you to all of the current families that have already referred family and friends.

There are lots of other events to look forward to this term and we hope to have restrictions ease further in the next few weeks. I am particularly looking forward to Wednesday 1 June, where we will host renowned presenter Glen Gerreyn who will be facilitating a Positive Parenting Seminar. I thoroughly recommend this presentation.

We look forward to having more opportunities to get together as a community to celebrate the wonderful work of our students and staff.
