It has been another busy few weeks with Year 4 attending Currency Creek, a select group of Year5-6 girls participating in the AFLW Crows Cup, Spring Showcase, Principal’s Tour, our Wellbeing Week, ELC Parents and Special Friends afternoon, P&F Ice Cream Day (these proved to be especially popular) as well as having a special visit from the Mayor of the City of Victor Harbor, Dr Moira Jenkins, to present prizes for the winning students in the Mayors’ Short Story Competition.

Spring Showcase

It was wonderful to see our students performing at the Spring Showcase on Friday 9 September. The music program is certainly an area of the school that is growing! A big thank you to Cass Crichton and Lisa Pointon for the work that went into preparing the students for the Showcase. They certainly demonstrated their musical skills also throughout the evening. Having the visual art also showcased on the evening was a wonderful addition and demonstration of the great work that is occurring in the Visual Arts. Thank you to Zoe Crichton for organising the wonderful exhibition; it is great to see how the students develop in their art ability throughout their journey through the sub schools.

SRC Visit ELC

Junior School SRC students and Student Leaders visited our Little Investigators last week.

‘First, we said hello to the ELCs and told them what our plan was for the lesson. I read an introduction to what we were planning. To inspire the ELC students we watched a video called Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. Mrs Meadows asked the ELCs, “what got stuck in the tree?” and all the ELCs answered with “The Kite”.

After we got out buddies we started making the kites by folding the paper and opening a book and stapling the bottom to make a heart shape. After we made the base of the kite we connected the streamers and the string. After we took a photo, we said a farewell to our buddies and packed up and left. This was such a fun activity with the ELC and all of the SRC hope we can do this again.’

ELC Parents and Special Friends afternoon

On Wednesday 14 September, our ELC hosted a Parents and Special Friends afternoon. This was really well attended and supported. For many parents this was their first opportunity to see the wonderful learning occurring in the ELC. We are very lucky to have such a great ELC program with wonderful and nurturing educators.

Principal’s Tour

Our regular Principal’s Tours have been a great success with increasing numbers of families attending these. Thursday’s event had significant numbers attend and it was lovely to meet prospective families. Thank you to those families that have referred friends or family to attend these events; we appreciate the positive way that Investigator College is referred to and spoken about in the wider community. Please continue to encourage your friends and families to attend these events. We are always so proud to share the wonderful learning occurring in our classrooms and see how polite and well behaved our students are. Spaces in many year levels are now limited so please also encourage your friends to get in quickly.
