Last week Investigator College welcomed Susan McLean for a number of seminars on the topic of Cyber Safety. Susan’s expertise on the topic was invaluable to all members of the College community who heard her talk.
On Thursday 10 June, Susan spoke with the parent body and delivered some key messages about the challenges young people face online and how parents can help them to navigate these. She was to the point and blunt at times, but extremely effective in delivering her very important message. She covered a number of relevant topics, providing parents/caregivers with guidance and information for them to better support their student/s online. The feedback from those that attended the session was overwhelmingly positive.
On Friday 11 June, Susan spoke to our students from Year 5 to Year 12 in three separate sessions (Year 5 and Year 6, Middle School, and Senior School). As with the parent sessions, Susan delivered her message directly but in a way to better equip our students with the tools to navigate the world they live in. The message was to be kind to each other and be brave to inform others of problems they might be facing online. Students were reminded of their digital reputation and that once something is online it can rarely be completely deleted.
See you all next term!
