2021 Will Be Our Best Year Yet!
You are about to experience Investigator College as you have never seen it before, with some outstanding new appointments. Drawing talent from Adelaide’s finest colleges, we are not able to make all announcements until their current schools have given permission. But luckily we can announce a couple!
Head of Junior School- Mr Nicholas Smith
Nick is currently Deputy Head of St John’s Grammar (Junior) School, a leading Anglican College in Belair, and prior to this taught at Pembroke, Canberra Grammar and Trinity College. Married to Samantha and father of three children, Leila (9), Henry (6) and Daniel (4), Nick is well known for his leadership in Science, sustainability, entrepreneurship and a strong commitment to literacy and numeracy. Nick is determined to make Investigator College the number one Junior School in Australia, and I know you will support him in this endeavour. Nick is delighted to be supported by our existing Wellbeing Leaders, Mark Tenny and Melissa Belton. You will have an opportunity to meet Nick later in the year.
Head of Middle School – To be announced in Term 4. Very exciting!
Learning Strategies Coordinator – Mrs Diana Carter
Arguably the state’s leader in her field, our students will benefit from Diana’s expertise in all aspects of learning support, as well as a passion for gifted education. Formerly the Head of ELC – Year 12 Learning Support at St John’s Grammar School, Diana (and her husband, Paul) has spent the past few years as the Learning Support Coordinator in a prominent international school in China. Diana will work with teachers and parents to ensure optimal learning outcomes for all students.
Student Counsellor – To be announced in Term 4. Student wellbeing will be given a definite boost by this appointment. You will be impressed!
Congratulations to Hub Leader and Year 6 teacher, Sally Judd, who has accepted a position of Teacher Librarian at St Matthew’s Primary School in Canberra for 2021. I know you all join me in wishing Sally every success next year and feel grateful for her fine work at Investigator College.
Please Enjoy A Break
I am taking a week’s leave during the term break, and I hope that you are able to enjoy some quality family time too. This has been another action-packed term and we all need some time to let down in preparation for the final sprint home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Seagren family, as well as our Year 12 students at this significant time of their lives.
I am really enjoying my first year here and am excited to see the wonderful changes happening in our College. The rush to Investigator from other schools continues, with most transferring because of your recommendations and encouragement.
Please note that lessons resume on Wednesday 14 October (and our Year 12 teachers are giving additional lessons during the break). Thank you so much for your ongoing support and watch this space for more exciting news when we return.
