Devoted role models

Thursday, 26 September 2024
There is no relationship quite like the one between grandparents and grandchildren. Without the pressures of parenthood, but with the wisdom and experience that come with age, grandparents can be devoted role models and nurturers, enthusiastic playmates and patient providers of knowledge, values and reassurance.

Their role-modelling of resilience strategies, integrity, gratitude and discernment is not to be underestimated. Similarly, cousins, neighbours and other special friends can fulfil this role.

The role of parents is also becoming more and more challenging, juggling demands at work, home, managing children, community expectations and even our own health concerns. Grandparents are so often our saviours here too! Thank you to the 500 grandparents and special friends who attended our special event on Wednesday,

This year I have become a grandparent too and am absolutely loving this exciting new phase. Hopefully I can be as supportive as all of you have been!

A groundswell!

Investigator is experiencing a groundswell of interest at the moment with many local and Adelaide families securing final places for 2025. Demand is such that we are extending our Early Learning Centre for the second time in recent years. Junior School and Middle Years numbers have swollen and our Senior School is experiencing a significant growth spurt. The news that we are now the highest achieving school in Australia in Vex Robotics has been well-received too.

There is so much planning for 2025 in progress and we are currently finalising subject choices, teaching appointments, budgets, special programs and classroom utilisation for next year. Accordingly, I write to remind you that written notice of a minimum of 10 school weeks needs to be given to cancel an enrolment, and that failure to give the required notice will incur a fee equal to 10 weeks tuition fees.

These are exciting times at Investigator College and 2025 is shaping up to be a year not to be missed! Watching the progression of the new Innovation Centre will be a highlight also! We are at a really exciting stage in the College’s 22-year history and it is a privilege to be sharing it with you.

Farewelling the class of 2024

This week is a significant week in the lives of our 2024 Year 12 students. This is the final, official week of school for them all. We have celebrated them in style with a variety of Spirit Week activities: dress-up as your future career, op-shop day, signing of college shirts, Staff v Year 12 students in volleyball and netball. The spirit and life around the College have been tremendous all week, but of course there have been a few tears.

A passport to do amazing things!

As parents we all want the very best for our children. We spend time pondering which school will give him or her the best opportunities, we worry about which class group or teacher will fit best, we sometimes stress over homework expectations, report comments or whether or not they won a place in a sporting team, College Musical or a leadership role.
