The Year 4 classes visited our Currency Creek EcoCentre on Thursday 4 March as part of their Term 1 HASS unit on local Aboriginal culture.

During this excursion, students explored the question “what was life like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples before the arrival of Europeans?”

Thank you to Cedric Varcoe, Ngarrindjeri artist, who taught students about local dreaming stories and Aboriginal plant use. Cedric worked with students to create three separate murals of the story of Thukeri and lead students through weaving sessions as he shared his culture.
